You would do it, too. You would grab cold steel and kill him. And you'd not regret it, at least not until it was too late. You'd kill him and stand there, death upon death in this funeral home. And there might be people who would applaud you... but not I.
Olivia marches down the aisle and tries to take the gun.
And Natalia can see her own life flash before her eyes.
The day that the keys turn the lock and the cell-door shuts. The minute that Phillip takes Emma away for good. The farmhouse, a place once filled with love, left cold and restless.
The hours would drag. The years would pass.
Natalia can trick herself and tell little white lies to her mind. But fear is a funny thing - it'll make you talk. Fear is the bright light shining down. And she is a criminal, sweating out her truth one bead at a time.
"What about Emma? What about us?"
What about us... Oh, God, what about us? What about this? What about this unexpected and this overwhelming feeling? What about my heart, my wants... my damned love?
Olivia stops talking and her gaze is frozen.
And Natalia can't take any of it back.
But like any good criminal, Natalia knows how to run.
