Author’s note: Well since you all seem to have Birthdays around the same days, you’re all going to kill me, ;]. But I have to say it is always fun for me to write and I find that it is a pleasure to write birthday fic, because it lasts so much longer then virtual gifts. I just hope you like it. But anyway Happy Birthday carlyisnot. I hope you have a happy and fantastic day.
Rating: pg-15, Swearing like a sailor on leave… ;]
Summary: Emily finds someone she hasn’t seen in 11 years. A different world from Criminal Minds as we know it, besides Emily/JJ being together I have changed a bit to fit the story but it is all in good fun so please don’t hate or sue me for it I own none of the characters, show, etc.Disclaimer: Not mine, the song and characters belong to someone else. But you all can thank carlyisnot for the inspiration and for being born on May 3. Oh and major angst, as requested so I hope you all can handle it. ;] Oh and self beta, again b-day fic so I will try to do daily updates.
“You know what to do. I will need a little time, things are more complicated then they appear to be. If you get this address then you will have to do everything you can to stall for a while. Just trust me when I say that it is better this way.”
Elle looked at the serious browns eyes that ordered her to halt this investigation if need be. She was confused, time was against them and they were saying to slow down? “I don’t think…” Elle started before she was stopped.
“No… this is my show, you will follow my lead… do you understand?”
Elle hesitated, but she knew she had more to lose then just her right to be on this case. “Yes.”
Emily knew her position was bad, and this woman was giving little up to not only what she wanted but who she was, which made any hope for means of communication almost impossible. Emily was trained for these situations, but she needed to deal with a person. Whoever this was, they were good at hiding that fact.
“So tell me Agent…how much do you know about your mother?” The voice said over the hushed sounds of the passing cars. They continued to be out of sight, the shadows providing perfect cover. She needed a little more time. ‘I deserve that much…’
“Well you know so much about my mother, why don’t you tell me?” Emily said, continually trying to get something out of this human shaped robot. Emily was good at compartmentalizing, she… was better.
“Oh come on Agent don’t play coy with me. We both know your mother has impressive reach.” The voice said as they moved to what looked like a window, their dark hair shining under the moonlight. She knew she gave away a little of herself in that question but time was short.
“So I can assume you’re not a part of the ‘family’ then?” Emily asked, still trying to find her way through the darkness that surrounded her captor. She could almost see the sarcastic smile as Emily heard her laugh in response.
“Never assume… it can only get you into trouble. Or worse.” She said, continuing to hide who she was. “But my question is why are you here? I am mean a FBI agent in your field, BAU if I’m not mistaken, has no need to be following or tracking down the mob or any of its members. In fact, it’s a good way to achieve a death wish, but honestly that would be easy for me to grant you… if you like.” She said sarcastically to her captive.
“I’m not looking to die… I’m looking for vengeance for my… for someone I cared about.” Emily said as she continued to watch her captor slow pace within the shadows of the room. Considering her calm and stead pace, Emily assumed that she was levelheaded and most likely doing that unconsciously. But she still lacked enough information to know exactly who this person was, so pushing her was out of the question. ‘So far anyway,’ Emily thought as she continued this conversation to gain more insight. What bothered her was the smug laugh from the woman, in response to what Emily just said.
“Care…you have a funny way of showing or even categorizing that word don’t you? I mean… I would think her death would be a release for you. No more worrying about that mistake you made when you were sixteen.” She said sharply, as she stopped pacing and stood in the corner, looking out of the window.
“I don’t care who you are or what you do to me but… if I ever hear you say that again I will kill you.” Emily said, her anger overpower and cloud her profiling skills and all other training given for her current situation.
“You’re funny… just like your mother. You would think someone of her size wouldn’t be able to command such power and control. Oh the irony in her size, but I imagine , for a girl or daughter… she is colossal. And Russia…now being even considered to be an Ambassador to that country is awe-inspiring, to say the least. In all respects though, she really has to learn her limits…” she stated.
“What…do you think you have that right or even the ability to do that? I would like to see that.” Emily said mockingly.
She stopped and turned toward the FBI agent the outline of her body and the closer sounds of her steps was the only clue that she was moving closer to her captive. She stopped just before the moonlight could give her identity away. “From what I hear…,” she said as she voice lowered a few octaves above a whisper, “I wouldn’t need to.”
