Author's Note: An AU in which Natalia and Olivia meet under different circumstances. Some things still the same, some not. Natalia's storyline is changed the most, she is a cop.
The weekend was great for all of the women in the farm house. They watched movies to the wee hours of the morning, made cookies, and had a great time just being a family. Natalia had talked to Rafe and told him what had happened and what Olivia had done for her but she still left out the current relationship with Olivia. Olivia wasn’t listening in, but when she asked what Rafe had to say about their relationship, Natalia said she didn’t know how to tell him. Olivia had weird déjà vu from when she dated Cassie. The whole time they were together, her daughter Tammy never knew. She always thought it was important to tell your family, she would have told Emma if she was even born but at the time she wasn’t and she also hadn’t met up with Ava. She was somewhat sad, but somewhat hopeful when Natalia said she would tell him soon. Olivia had to admit it was a lot to take in, so time would be crucial, but she hoped that Natalia was getting comfortable with feeling this way about her. She had an idea of how to try to begin their relationship official.
“Are you working tonight?” Olivia asked.
“No, I should be home by 6pm.” Natalia said absently.
“Good, and Emma is going to stay at a friend’s house tonight, so I was wondering… how would you like to go on a date? Like a real, honest to goodness date; with candlelight and a nice atmosphere?” Olivia asked awkwardly. She all of a sudden felt like a school girl being asked out on her first date. Her stomach feeling like it was a butterfly sanctuary.
“I would love to. That sounds nice, just the two of us out together. Because there is a lot we still need to talk about.” Natalia said.
“Alright then, it’s settled. I’ll make the reservations for 8 at a good restaurant and we’ll leave here about 7:30?” Olivia asked, trying not to sound like she was going to rush her. She couldn’t quiet all the nerves in her body but she did feel everything begin to relax when Natalia answered.
“Yes, that would be perfect. I can’t wait.” Natalia said with a big smile. Out of everything in her life, this date was the one thing she was looking forward to.
Thankfully her day went fast and without a big problem. She had been stuck on a desk all day but she was still aware of how everyone else was also stuck doing paperwork. It was a perfect day to be injured. As she got home she began to final feel nervous. “Oh gawd, what am I going to wear?” Natalia said as she opened her closet and began to tear through her clothes like she hated her entire wardrobe. She was even more nervous at the fact that she was completely and utterly alone on this, considering the other person she would asked for help is the person she is trying to impress. ‘Great, just great.’ Natalia thought as she rolled her eyes at how childish she was being. “Really Rivera, it’s not like you haven’t been on a date before.” Natalia said to herself then she had an idea.
By 7:20 pm Olivia was down stairs and waiting for her date. She was never one to be early, but for some reason she didn’t want to be late, not this time, not with Natalia. Olivia decided to wear her red lacey dress, she knew that she looked good but she still secretly hoped that Natalia liked this outfit. She wasn’t going to deny that she had been around the block with a lot of men in
Natalia smiled as she saw the look in Olivia’s eyes. She had never felt so wanted in her life, the green eyes drank in the sight in front of them and made her feel like she slowed time down and brought everything to focus on Olivia. She couldn’t help but look at Olivia in the same way, she was perfect. She had never seen her like this before but now she couldn’t see her as anything but beautiful. She slowly noticed her walking toward her with a purple rose. Her smile grew as she watched Olivia hold up the rose for her to take. “It’s beautiful, thank you.”
Olivia smiled and wanted to look away and try to move but she couldn’t, the pull between the two of them was stronger than anything she had ever felt. She continued to look into the deep brown eyes, until she had to pull her eyes away and look at her watch. “Well, we have to get going or else we’re going to be late.” She watched Natalia nod in agreement and both of them began to walk towards the car. They both were quiet on the ride to the café.
They had gotten there early and were seated together in five minutes. Olivia was smiling to herself as she noticed how open and understanding the crowd was. There more than a few female/female and male/male dancing partners slow dancing on the floor and no one seemed to care. Before desert came a perfect song came on and she did something she never had done before. “Would you like to dance?”
Natalia smiled and nodded as she followed Olivia to the dance floor and began to slow dance to the song that played. She smiled as she listened to the words in the song and enjoyed the warmth of the woman holding her. She took her breath away and gave it back to her all in one shot. She agreed with the song No Air, being without Olivia would be like living with no air. She wouldn’t know how to breathe without her. She heard Olivia say, “I love this song.” And felt her pull her in closer as they continued to sway together.
